Two firsts for Moncton publisher Bouton d’or Acadie/ Deux premières pour Bouton d’or Acadie de Moncton

June 11, 2014 by Admin

La version française suivra

qui est la plus fort During the World Acadian Congress in August, Bouton d’or Acadie, the publishing house founded by Madame Marguerite Maillet and purchased two years ago by Louise Imbeault and Marie Cadieux will present two books to the public amid the lands and forests of Acadia, the fruit of two new initiatives to take Acadian literature off the beaten path.

First, the new edition of Qui est le plus fort?, a retelling of a Louisiana-Acadian tongue-twister fable told by Inez Catalan of Louisiana to Barry Jean Ancelet, a well-known Cajun folklorist and researcher. Illustrated in a swirl of colors and featuring funny ant Joël Boudreau, Qui est le plus fort? also offers a CD so that readers, big or small, francophone or francophile, in turn can try to follow this contest of strength. And as two, one is stronger, Shreveport, LA-based Editions Tintamarre have signed a co-publishing agreement with Bouton d’or Acadie

In the same spirit, Bouton d’or Acadie will publish published its first book in English: Piau’s Potato Present, by Diane Carmel Léger and illustrated by Tamara Thiébaux-Heïkalo. First launched at the Frye Festival under the title La patate cadeau ou la «vraie» histoire de la poutine rapée, Bouton d’or Acadie decided to reissue the book in English as this classic dish’s recipe and the book’s bilingual author are both well known to English readers.
